Insurance & packing
The things that hold up a shipment when nobody arranged them in advance. We handle them as part of the booking rather than as an afterthought.
Marine cargo insurance arranged at the time of booking. Carrier liability is limited by convention and is almost never enough to cover the actual value of a lost container.
Fumigation and ISPM-15 treated packing for wooden crates and pallets — mandatory for most destinations, and a common cause of rejection at the far end when skipped.
Palletisation, strapping, shrink wrap and export certification prepared to the destination's requirements, not generic standards.
Common questions
Is cargo insurance actually necessary?
Carrier liability is capped low — often a fraction of your invoice value. For anything valuable, cover typically costs a small fraction of a percent and is worth it.
When is fumigation required?
Whenever solid wood packing is used and the destination enforces ISPM-15, which most countries do. Plywood and processed board are exempt.
